I’m in a lounging mood... Springfields could fit the bill – the Cross’s newest hotspot is modeled on lounge bars of New York and offers a late-night oasis in the midst of Darlinghurst Road’s chaotic neon buzz.
The look: Low-key retro prints, floral motifs, patterned screens and chunky poufs.
The music: Latino house-style beats, if that floats your boat.
Who’s around? Discerning drinkers on weeknights, which are low-key; weekends are busy.
Wow factor: Theme nights abound; from Wednesday’s free oyster offer if you buy a bottle of bubbles, to Thursday’s $24 All You Can Eat mussels.
Water me! The wine list caters to European and Aussie tastes and cocktail fans aren’t forgotten – try the Liquid Cooler, a mix of cranberry, Frangelico, Campari and lime ($14).
Feed me! Mediterranean flavours abound, whether you fancy a full-scale feast in the restaurant or simply crave a few tasting plates, which run the gamut from chicken pistachio satay skewers to salt’n’pepper squid.
