The look: It’s easy to assume Tryst is a residential terrace. And except for the bar, it pretty much resembles one. Bare floorboards and scantily furnished rooms give a kind of open-for-inspection feel which turns into a housewarming vibe when the venue fills up. The great outdoors: A well appointed and well heated courtyard that should satisfy puffers and non-puffers alike. To drink: There’s a reasonably priced martini menu which includes the self-explanatory lychee & violet martini ($12) and a white chocolate & passionfruit version ($12). To eat: If you’re feeling reasonably adult, try the antipasto plate with Persian fetta and prosciutto ($12). Otherwise, feed the inner child some popcorn ($4) or a bowl of M&Ms ($3). Bar soundtrack: Varied. Could be DJs, could be a live jazz trio. Best for: Under the radar drinks. But if you’re meeting up with cross-town friends, it might be wise to sit outside with your mobile handy.
