The Toff

The Look:  Does Nick Cave moonlight as an interior designer?  In addition to dark wood and a slightly gothic ambiance, patrons are treated to private drinking carriages which feel like a combination of a train compartment and a church confessional.  Simply press the button to summon some service.
Bar soundtrack: the velvety intonations of Nina Simone and friends. Meanwhile, the adjacent cabaret room also hosts live acts.
To drink: Better brush up on your French because the wine list is exclusively Gallic and arranged by region. Of course this includes the Champagne fave of rappers everywhere, Cristal, at P. Diddy kind of prices.
To eat: Despite the railway allusions, there are no soggy sangas or dehydrated sausage rolls on the menu. Instead, think supper style nibbles like Welsh rarebit ($10.50), duck pie ($16.50) or smoked eel dip ($14.50).
Best for: The penultimate stage in a well planned seduction. Also good for people who want Orient Express luxury while staying put.
