The Press Club

The Press Club Restaurant and Bar
The look: There’s plenty of ebony marble and chocolate banquettes in this sleek drinking annexe to George Calombaris’ acclaimed eatery. Lampshades glow red and orange, resembling electric hobs.
Signature drink: It has to be ouzo. Choose from more than 20 versions, including those with cardamom, cinnamon and anise characteristics. Skeptics can tackle the new and old world wines as well as custom-made cocktails.
On the menu: A scaled-down version of the restaurant menu where Calombaris gives Greek cuisine a mod makeover. Try the souvlaki of the day ($15.90) or his take on moussaka ($16.90). Honey and walnut doughnuts ($9) are good for a sweet send-off.
The crowd: The top-end-of-town location ensures solid corporate patronage.
Celebrity spotting potential: Good, if you sit near the restaurant entrance.
Best for: drinkers who like their food.
