Dusk
The look: A post-modern melange of materials and influences. Look down to see a jigsaw parquetry floor, look up at the giant CD covered lampshades or sit yourself down on oversized rope spools. And after a trip to the Ladies or Gents, you can admire yourself over and over in the wall of bathroom mirrors.
To drink: Local and imported beers, wine and a select range of cocktails are listed on the blackboard behind the bar, including Dusk’s raspberry cosmopolitan ($13).
To eat: Pub basics like pizza and parma plus variations on the theme such as the roo burger ($10). Bar soundtrack: Pop music mash-ups and other du jour sounds. The crowd: Its proximity to backpacker magnet the Elephant & Wheelbarrow means that Dusk attracts some spill-over but the crowd isn’t exclusively young and touristy.
Best for: Late-afternoon sojourns, summery evenings and people-watching whilst sitting outside on the footpath.
